Let us introduce you to Paula, Wendy, Laura, James and Lee. These brilliant people are raising money for Dementia Adventure by running the Vitality Big Half Marathon.
The Vitality Big Half is a community running festival. It takes place in London on March 10th. It’s a one-day event offering a host of running distances, as well as a family-friendly festival of food, music and activities.
Not ones to shy away from a challenge, our runners have all chosen to run the full the 13.1 mile challenge. They’ll be starting at Tower Bridge and finishing at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
Individually, our runners had specific reasons they wanted to support Dementia Adventure with the money they raised. Here’s what some of them had to say:
Laura: “I’m more used to running after toddlers and children than running a half marathon! This is not going to be easy for me but my children are the reason I’m getting off the sofa and getting my bum in gear. I fear that I might not remember them one day. Dementia Adventure have taught me that what’s good for the heart is good for the brain so I’m not leaving anything to chance.”
Paula: “I have seen first hand what an amazing difference Dementia Adventure make to people’s lives. They really help people to really think differently about dementia.”
Lee: “I interned with Dementia Adventure in 2018. I was given the opportunity to support people with dementia on one of the supported holidays to Cornwall. It was an unbelievable experience. I would love to be able to support Dementia Adventure further by running my first ever half marathon to raise money for them.”
We’ll be following our runners during their preparations and training over the next few weeks. Follow our Facebook page to join them on their journey.
