Gordon Malcolm, Project Coordinator, Training Research & Consultancy
Gordon joined Dementia Adventure in July 2019. Prior to that, he worked as Senior Project Leader for the Gingerbread ‘Working Forward Essex’ programme, delivering employability training in partnership with Marks and Spencer, providing coaching support and managing the team of Essex Project Officers.
Prior to working in the charity sector, Gordon worked in the education sector for twenty-five years and was a Primary Headteacher for fourteen. He supported schools to broaden and enrich their curriculum with purposeful, real life challenges and exciting outdoor experiences, working closely with many community organisations such as the Woodland Trust and the National Forest Schools Network. This enabled one school team to become graded as outstanding by Ofsted. His drive and enthusiasm for partnership working also led him to set up the Essex Children’s University to broaden and enrich children’s out of school learning opportunities. In addition, he established a long-term intergenerational project with Age UK enabling young people and the older generation to learn together both in school, and on educational trips visits, gaining rich experiences from supporting one another to learn in partnership.
He has also worked in a voluntary capacity for the Rainbow Trust and as an independent panel member for fostering agencies for the last fifteen years.
Gordon has 25 years of running outdoor and adventurous trips and residential visits with large groups and is therefore a passionate advocate of the health and wellbeing benefits of getting active and outdoors!
